I don’t know about you guys, but even though I like rep myself as a loud-n-proud nerdy girl, I tend to keep things on the subtler side in my daily life. My current work dress code is quite casual, but I still can’t rock my TeeFury shirts in the office without receiving some serious side-eye. And while I love and wear my pokeball earrings and piece of heart necklace on a regular basis, I also find it fun to invest in some more classic-looking geek jewelry.
In the last week, I splurged and bought two stunning pieces–a ring and a necklace–that are ultra cute and ridiculously nerdy!
The Incredible Tentacle Ring
If you’re the kind of person who likes to regularly pay his or her dues to the Elder Gods, then this tentacle ring is right up your alley. Worship the Dark Lord Cthulhu in style!
Real talk for a moment: I’ve wanted a tentacle ring for a long time now, but for some reason the ones I found online where extremely expensive. My jaw dropped when I finally found this ring on Silver Phantom Jewelry Etsy shop–the price was so much more reasonable.
Also, if you’re a stickler for choices, you can choose the style of metal you want use for your ring. I picked antique silver, but the other options were: dark oxidized silver, shiny silver, and raw silver.
One of the nicest aspects of this ring is that it’s adjustable. It comes as a one-size-fits-most size, and you can twist and bend it to fit whatever finger you choose.
I’m pretty sure this is going to be one of my new, daily-wear jewelry items, and I couldn’t be happier.
The Hyped Up Typewriter Necklace
I’m a lover of words and all things wordy-related, so this typewriter necklace was an absolute must-have. Yet again, it was a piece of jewelry that I had seen on Pinterest and been coveting for quite some time.
(Plus, it matches my amazing typewriter purse. So much type-y goodness!)
After I put in my order for the necklace on the Etsy shop Penelope’s Porch, Penelope reached out to me with a surprise. She said I could customize the words on the typewriter paper of my necklace–free of charge! I was so excited.
I pondered quite awhile over what I might want to put on my necklace, and finally chose a quote that my friend Taylar had sent to me the week before because she said it reminded her of me.
“You must not ever stop being whimsical. And you must not, ever, give anyone else the responsibility for your life.” – Mary Oliver, Wild Geese
It’s a nice reminder to myself that I don’t have to sacrifice my naturally whimsical outlook on life for the comfort of others or to succeed out there in the business world. It also holds me accountable for my own actions, which is something I also wholeheartedly believe in doing.
Overall, I’m thrilled with my two new fantastically nerdy purchases. I wholly recommend both Etsy shops. They have great stuff in their stores, so go forth my pretties, and splurge away if you so choose!
Also, a fun question to pose to those of you awesome folks reading out there: What kind of nerd jewelry do you own? What do you find yourself lusting over on Pinterest or Etsy?
